DES 's Willingdon Gets Greener: Rajendra Singh Rana Launches Environmental Education Park
A new Environmental Education Park is being built in Willingdon College to promote ancient Indian knowledge for environmental protection. Dr. Rajendra Singh Rana, the chief guest, highlighted the importance of traditional practices like water conservation to combat climate change. The park is expected to be completed within a year.

DES Murlidhar Lohia Matrimandir School organized health camp on the occasion of International Women's Day. Rajshree Thakar, Ashok Palande, Sameer Rupde, and 'Apalki' joined hands to raise awareness.Eye exams and health checks were conducted. HM Madhuri Barve led the event with teachers and volunteers.

CSR Conclave 2025 – A Successful Capacity-Building Initiative
29th November 2025 : Deccan Education Society, Pune University organised the CSR Conclave 2025 , with the participation of 136 representatives including GB Members, faculty, institutional heads and CSR practitioners.
The conclave featured expert sessions by Mr. Shrirang Dhavale (Tata Sustainability Group) and CA Makarand Lele, along with a project development workshop conducted by Dr. Shweta Bapat. Key discussions focused on CSR law, due diligence, proposal development, impact assessment and sustainable institutional partnerships.
Participants engaged in group activities and presented innovative CSR project ideas.
The event concluded with a valedictory address by Mr. Amit Kulkarni and remarks by Dr. Anand Katikar, followed by a vote of thanks.
The successful conclave strengthened DES’s commitment to meaningful CSR engagement and collaborative development.
Seminar on “Changing Paradigms of Criminal Justice Delivery System in India”
25th September 2025: Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College, Pune, organized a thought-provoking seminar on “Changing Paradigms of Criminal Justice Delivery System in India.” The event brought together eminent personalities from the fields of law, judiciary, policing, and academia to deliberate on the evolving nature of India’s criminal justice system and the challenges it faces in ensuring justice, fairness, and efficiency.
The distinguished panel included Advocate Ujjwal Nikam, one of India’s most renowned public prosecutors known for his role in high-profile cases; Shri K.P. Nandedkar, Retired Principal District Judge; Shri Prakash Singh, former police officer and a strong advocate of police reforms; Shri Jayant Umranikar, former Director General of Police, Maharashtra; Hon’ble Justice J.N. Patel, former Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court; and Prof. (Dr.) Alok Sharma, an eminent academician and researcher in the field of criminal law.Read More
Celebrating Excellence – Fergusson College Tops Maharashtra in NIRF 2025
16 September 2025 : Deccan Education Society’s Fergusson College has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the top position in Maharashtra in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 under the college category. At the national level, Fergusson stands proudly at 57th rank.
To celebrate this historic achievement, a grand procession was organized in the Fergusson College area, adorned with floral decorations and vibrant displays. Students and professors enthusiastically participated in traditional attire, while the spirited beats of the Ramanbaug Dhol-Tasha troupe added to the festive atmosphere.
The event was graced by the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including DES chairman Shri. Pramod Rawat, Vice chairman Adv. Ashok Palande, council member of DES, Shri. 1,000 Trees Planted at Fergusson College Campus, Pune
18 July 2025: At Deccan Education Society, Pune, we strongly believe that education extends beyond classrooms and includes fostering a sense of social and environmental responsibility.
As part of our commitment to sustainability and ecological conservation, we undertook a significant tree plantation initiative, planting 1,000 trees across the Fergusson College campus.
The initiative was graced by the esteemed presence of Param Pujya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati (Founder, Shrutisagar Ashram, Phulgaon), Mr. Nanasahab Jadhav (Sanghchalak, Western Maharashtra Region), Mr. Pramod Rawat (chairman, D.E.S., Pune), Adv. Ashok Palande (Vice chairman, D.E.S., Pune), Mr. Vivek Mathkari (Governing Body Member, D.E.S.) and Dr. Anand Katikar (Secretary, D.E.S).
