Seminar On Changing Paradigms Of Criminal Justice Delivery System In India

25th September 2025 : , Shri Navalmal Firodia Law College, Pune, organized a thought-provoking seminar on “Changing Paradigms of Criminal Justice Delivery System in India.” The event brought together eminent personalities from the fields of law, judiciary, policing, and academia to deliberate on the evolving nature of India’s criminal justice system and the challenges it faces in ensuring justice, fairness, and efficiency.

The distinguished panel included Advocate Ujjwal Nikam, one of India’s most renowned public prosecutors known for his role in high-profile cases; Shri K.P. Nandedkar, Retired Principal District Judge; Shri Prakash Singh, former police officer and a strong advocate of police reforms; Shri Jayant Umranikar, former Director General of Police, Maharashtra; Hon’ble Justice J.N. Patel, former Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court; and Prof. (Dr.) Alok Sharma, an eminent academician and researcher in the field of criminal law.

The discussions explored key aspects such as the need for police and judicial reforms, victim-centric approaches, technological integration in investigation and trial, speedy justice mechanisms, and the balance between individual rights and state powers. Each speaker brought a unique perspective — from the prosecutorial and judicial experience to administrative and academic insights — enriching the understanding of participants on the complexities of modern criminal justice in India.
